Just 20μL aspiration volume

The XS-1000i analyses samples in a closed system by piercing the tube cap. This means direct contact with the sample is avoided. It requires just 20μL aspiration volume for the complete differential blood count. This is particularly beneficial in settings where you don't want to have to take large volumes of blood and so can increase patient comfort, such as in pediatric hospitals. It is also useful for microtubes: a special adapter is supplied for all XS instruments.

A novel blood sensor guarantees exactly 20μL aspiration volume is used each time, and so contributes to the reliability of the analysis results.

Easy to use

Sysmex instruments stand out in terms of quality, and in terms of ease of use. We know just how tough it is to work in a lab all day. So it’s important to us that our devices make your life as easy as possible.

At the end of the day, you don't want to have to wait for a complicated shutdown process. Building on our knowledge from the XE- and XT-series, we have managed to reduce user maintenance for the XS-series even further. Now, all you need is a single push of the button to initiate your daily fully automatic shutdown. It takes just two to three minutes. And requires no additional reagent.

You will find other functions and the software menu structure intuitive and simpler to use than in most other analyzers.

Since XS-1000uses the same reagents as larger X-Class systems, and its operation and user interface are very similar, it is excellent as a nightshift or backup solution. No extra training is required for those used to using the larger devices.

Simplified reagent management

Thanks to the fine-tuned reagent management function on the XS-series you can now easily control and record all essential reagent handling steps.

A handheld barcode reader will save you time by collecting the necessary information from the reagent barcode. This includes reagent name, lot number, expiration date and package volume. For traceability, this information is stored with the user’s log-on name so you can meet accreditation requirements.

The reagent meter screen helps to check the analyzer’s reagent status as it displays the approximate remaining reagent volume.

Adapt your analyzer to fit your overall lab solution

Apart from the manual start button, your XS-1000i is operated entirely via the information-processing unit (IPU). Based on Windows®, we have used our experience with other analyzers to make this interface as intuitive as possible, with interactive menus and understandable icons.

The IPU database stores your patient data, test orders, quality control data and all analysis results. Since all the data management is performed on the IPU, you can easily integrate the XS-1000into your laboratory solution. Even if you’re using your system offline and without the barcode system, you can still analyze samples selectively using the work list function.

Add a sampler for more automation

For a higher degree of automation and workflow standardization, you can connect a sampler. Samplers mix samples and read the barcode automatically to query the corresponding sample request from the laboratory EDP. You just need to start the process and you can walk away!

Sample Explorer

Up to 10,000 results can be stored centrally on the XS-1000i, including all graphics. You can retrieve any sample you need at any time. Simply select from the comprehensive sorting and filtering criteria and various search functions. Processing status is available for all results too, which can be validated, printed out or transmitted to the laboratory information system (LIS).

Technology:

* Red Blood Cells and Platelets - RBCs and PLTs are counted in a dedicated channel using the direct current detection method with hydrodynamic focusing technology to minimize coincidence or recirculation. Automatic discriminators separate the two cell populations based on complex algorithms. The intensity of the electronic pulse from each analyzed RBC is proportional to the cell volume. The hematocrit (HCT) is directly determined based on the count and volume detection of each individual RBC. Even with samples at extremely low or unusually high concentrations, the Sysmex cell counters analyze RBCs and platelets with uncompromised precision and accuracy.

* Hemoglobin Analysis - The Sysmex sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) method for hemoglobin analysis is a non-cyanide method. Hemoglobin is determined in a separate channel, minimizing interference from high leukocyte concentrations. The SLS method shows excellent correlation with the reference method. With very short reaction times, this method is ideal for high throughput analyzers.

* Fluorescent Flow Cytometry - Traditional flow cytometry is considered the best method for the differentiation of cell populations. However, traditional flow cytometry requires the use of costly antigen-antibody reagents and the procedures can be cumbersome and time consuming. Fluorescent technology enables the XS-1000i to reliably differentiate normal WBC populations from abnormal WBC populations. The sensitivity of the unique application of fluorescent flow cytometry gives the lab a high level of confidence in reporting accurate WBC Differentials, even on critical patient samples when the WBC count is low.

* WBC Differential - Fluorescent labeling is a milestone for the routine WBC differential. Fluorescent measurement reveals the nucleus-plasma ratio of each individually stained cell, enabling the XS-Series analyzers to differentiate five reportable WBC populations. The combination of side scatter (inner complexity of the cell), forward scatter (volume) and fluorescence of nucleic acid material determines the classification of each WBC. The XS-Series utilizes an Adaptive Cluster Analysis System (ACAS) instead of conventional discriminators to separate cell populations into well defined clusters. This three-dimensional measurement of WBC provides an accurate and precise differential, even in highly pathological samples.

Sysmex XT 4000i

XT-4000i – Outstanding diagnostics plus dedicated body fluid analysis

  • Fluorescence flow cytometry for high quality hematology analysis
  • More than blood alone – a dedicated mode for body fluids
  • Extended Diagnostic Capabilities on board (IG, Ret, Ret-He, IRF)
  • Sysmex Gold standard reticulocyte technology for monitoring erythropoietic status (Ret, Ret-He, IRF)
  • Online QC, optimized workflow, cost-efficient reagent consumption

Using Sysmex’s unique fluorescence flow cytometry, the analyzer looks at RNA/DNA content, cell size and inner cell complexity rather than just cell size. This generates remarkably accurate results and a superb WBC differential.

For those who need special capabilities, the XT-4000i has a separate, dedicated true body fluid mode. It has Sysmex’s famous gold standard reticulocyte technology on board as standard for monitoring erythropoietic status (Ret, Ret-He, IRF), as well as true quantitative IG counting instead of mere flagging. And it is particularly precise for RBC and PLT parameters thanks to hydrodynamic focusing.

The analyzer is practical and can be adapted to your own particular workflow. You will appreciate its cost-effective reagent consumption, and the fact that you can adapt the diagnostic sensitivity to your own laboratory needs through its unique Q-flags. You can also attach it to our network communication system for online quality control.

Dedicated body fluid mode

Analyzing body fluids (BF), particularly cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), requires great focus from the laboratory since the specimen material is so delicate. This, and the many manual preparatory steps, mean analysis results tend to vary greatly, and so impair the information that is so crucial for clinicians and their patients.

The XT-4000i provides a count for white and red blood cells found in CSF and other body fluids, as well as a total nucleated cell (TNC) count. This count can include macrophages, erythrophages, tumor cells, mesothelial cells and plasma cells, if present.

Thanks to expertise in cell counting technology, you can now count and classify particles even in low concentration ranges. You no longer have to specially prepare the sample material. Simply hold the sample tube under the instrument’s aspiration needle and it does the cell counting for you automatically.

True reticulocyte count

Using fluorescence flow cytometry, reticulocytes can be distinguished from mature red blood cells and white blood cells. You can reduce the interference between these cells to a minimum and even distinguish and quantify mature and immature reticulocytes. This leads to far more accurate results.

Anemia is often underestimated as a functional condition of red blood cells. But only the combined information provided by quantity- and quality-related reticulocyte parameters provides the whole picture behind anemia diagnosis. The XT-4000i can deliver this information as standard. Compared to the hemoglobin value or other RBC parameters, the RET-He value and parameter combinations enable significantly faster control during iron and/or erythropoietin therapy.

True immature granulocyte count

To increase your analytical possibilities, your XT-4000offers a classic 5-part differential and a true immature granulocyte (IG) count, with far superior clinical utility than the flagging offered by other technologies. IG supports the quick detection of inflammation and infections, and lets you monitor treatment. It also means you can reduce the number of smears because in most cases you no longer need to count IG manually.

High quality analysis – adaptable, quick and cost-efficient

The XT-4000i is available with a range of options so you can adapt it to the requirements of your laboratory. As standard, samples are processed at 80 samples/h regardless of the profile analyzed. A STAT function lets you analyze emergency samples immediately.

Sample-specific selective testing adapts the reagent consumption to actual analytical needs. Even if the system is operated offline without its bar code system, you maintain selective sample analysis by using the work list function.

A 50-tube cap-piercing auto-sampler with continuous feeding of samples offers walk-away automation. No matter whether a manual or an automated bar code reader is used, adequate positive sample identification gives confidence.

Compact yet powerful

Thanks to its small laser, clever use of reagents and low aspiration volume (just 85μL in manual mode), this true 5-part differential analyzer is one of the most compact in its class.

Reliable and ready when you are

Thanks to its efficient semiconductor laser, the XT-4000i is ready to use when needed. Sysmex uses only high-quality components in manufacturing to ensure your device lasts a long time. And because of attention to detail, you can count on continuous smooth operation even when analyzing body fluids.

The only daily preventive maintenance you or your staff will have to perform is to administer the cleaning reagent for the fully automated shutdown sequence at the end of your day.
